Photographer from London, United Kingdom
Q: Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
A: Melbourne, Australia. I currently live in London!
Q: What have you studied, and what are you doing now?
A: I studied Photo Imaging (photography, really) and I'm looking to further myself there.
Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: More shades, less colour.
Q: Where do you shop? Luxury or high street? New or vintage? Boutiques? Online?
I really love stores/brands like Zara, Cos, Cheap Monday, Acne - stores with really nice, clean basics. Though you can never go wrong with the odd thrift here and there. Back home I tried to support local brands a lot (DGTLLUXE was one, which was run by a friend of mine) and I'm trying to suss out what there is here!
Q: If you had $300 for a shopping spree, how many items would you buy?
A: Ideally, maybe 1-2. I believe in quality > quantity, if you can afford it.
Q: Do you prefer street style fashion or runway fashion?
A: I feel like they're both so different, but I'd probably go for street style (sorry A. Wang.) Street style essentially feeds off high-end, runway fashion, so I feel like it's everyone's way of keeping up do date of what's going on in that world in their own way. Your clothing says something about who you are, and even though specific pieces may be trending, the way people wear that piece says something about them!
Q: What do you splurge on? Skimp on?
A: Splurge? Black, high-waisted jeans. You can't go wrong with them. And to be honest, I probably skimp on underwear. I keep it simple in that department.
Q: When and how did you become interested in fashion, and where do you find your inspiration?
A: I remember being obsessed with the fashion industry through ANTM when I was a kid, but I've always been too short to model. I then discovered fashion photography by watching the photographers on that show, and I grab all my inspiration from editorials that suit my photographic style.
Q: Who are your favorite style icon(s)?
A: I'm a big fan of Tilda Swinton, Banks, and Kanye West.
Q: What are your favorite fashion blogs? Magazines?
A: I'm not so big on blogs (yet,) but magazines definitely. I love Oyster, i-D, Dazed and Confused - anything with a good editorial really.
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: I love that it really gives individuals a way to show who they are in a way so simple. I'm not a fan of the stigmas that surround the industry - especially around photography. I feel like once the word Photoshop is mentioned, people melt down.
Q: Your favorite designers & brands?
A: Alexander Wang, Rick Owens (sigh,) Proenza Schouler, Yohji Yamamoto, Julius 7 etc. etc. etc.
Q: Do you follow fashion trends? Which ones?
A: I'm not too sure really! Subconsciously, probably. I try to keep my style neat and structured or laid back and draped but they're almost, always in shades of black/white. I'm not into anything loud and colourful on me, so if that's what's trending, count me out!
Q: Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
A: I start with the base - pants and shoes, then I plan up. Then I check the weather.
Q: Which would you be best at? Worst at? (Stylist, Designer, Photographer, Buyer)
A: Best at photography (I hope,) and probably worst at designing. I'm not sure I could make anything especially innovative.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: I want to be shooting the editorials that inspire me.
Q: What are your other interests? How do you spend your spare time?
A: I love finding new places to eat, and exploring my new city!
