Q: Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
A: I grew up where I live now, in Wollongong, Australia
Q: What have you studied, and what are you doing now?
A: I'm very interested in art, design and science, subjects that I'm focusing on now in school.
Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: An odd mix of sophisticated, simple clothes with colourful bohemian designs and vintage clothes, always with close attention to detail, my style changes with my mood and current interests.
Q: Who are your favourite style icons?
A: Difficult to say, there are so many! On opposite ends of my spectrum is Caroline de Maigret and David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust, I love how he fought against the pressure of masculinity with his feminine, revealing clothes and makeup.
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: I adore the freedom of expression each person holds (in Australia), you can push particular notions and feelings to people, without even speaking, and reveal which ever element of yourself and your mind you wish, I also love the history and stories that trail clothes, in vintage pieces or simply the ideas and imagination the designer held. On the downside the fashion industry has an appalling environmental and human impact, with enormous water use, waste, landfill, emissions and human exploitation, with child labour and unsafe working conditions, unfortunately the list goes on.
Q: What are your other interests? How do you spend your spare time?
A: I always have a new obsession or muse I cling to, which evidently changes all the time, whether is be an artist, theory, musician, designer, author, idea or individual. As these interests are constantly altering, it becomes hard to focus on a particular study or career idea, although I would never change it, I love discovering and learning new things, always changing projects.
