Q: Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
A: I grew up in the West Midlands, just near Birmingham, and I still live there now.
Q: What have you studied, and what are you doing now?
A: I'm still at school studying all the usual school-stuff. But once I leave I'd like to study some kind of topic linked to fashion.
Q: Links to your style networks?
A: You can find my blog here: totallylola2013.blogspot.com or follow me on Twitter: @LaurenEHarcourt or Instagram: lharcourt for all things fashion and photography.
Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: I can't really choose 3-5 words, I hate sticking to one style - I like to mix it up and try new things.
Q: Where do you shop? Luxury or high street? New or vintage? Boutiques? Online?
A: High street and online; I'm definitely not one for luxury items - I think the real talent in fashion is being able to buy super cheap items but style them as though you're in Vogue. I admire anybody who can do that!
Q: If you had $300 for a shopping spree, how many items would you buy?
A: I would try and make the $300 go as far as possible. Plenty of high street items and perhaps a luxury one as a treat, who knows?
Q: Do you prefer street style fashion or runway fashion?
A: This is such a tough question because I love street style, it's what inspires me every single day. But there is just something about watching runway shows that gets me all excited. Nothin can beat the first look of a new collection on the runway; it's all a new idea that has taken so much thought.
Q: What do you splurge on? Skimp on?
A: I tend to splurge on nessesities. For example, a statement pair of shoes (which for many years now has tended to be Converse) and simple items like jeans and tees. I'm a bit of a skimper when it comes to bags - I love them but I wait until they're on their last legs, and then splurge on a new one (that goes with everything!)
Q: When and how did you become interested in fashion, and where do you find your inspiration?
A: I remember when I was 6 or 7, sitting on my Mum's bedroom floor while she cleaned out her wardrobe. There were tops from the 90's that although were not at that moment in fashion, I absolutely adored. The designs, the patterns, the colours. Growing up she would always give me the clothes she never wanted. Some girls would find it funny but I can laugh at them now that the decades are swinging back around for the SS and AW seasons.
Q: Who are your favorite style icon(s)?
A: I love Alexa Chung's style. She is amazing. I also love Cara Delevigne's super laid back everyday wear. It may sound odd, but I also loved Harry Styles' style back in 2013. It was so versatile and I always use it as inspiration for casual and easy everyday looks.
Q: What are your favorite fashion blogs? Magazines?
A: I can't go very long without picking up Vogue or Elle, and I really miss Company Magazine! Although I write a fashion blog myself, I never really find the time to read others, but you can always find me scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram looking for quick fixes of inspiration before I change in the morning.
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: I love that fashion is completely reliant on you as a person. It's a way of showing who you are without letting a single word leave your lips. What I hate about fashion is what some people believe it is. Lots of people think fashion is going and buying a top in Topshop or Miss Selfridge because EVERYBODY is wearing it, and styling it just how EVERYONE else is. But they couldn't be more wrong. Fashion is wearing and styling things how you want to. I see the season's style as guidelines: follow them, but never be afraid to step outside of them.
Q: Your favorite designers & brands?
A: Elie Saab is utterly incredible! I also adore Topshop and only outlets like Asos.
Q: Do you follow fashion trends? Which ones?
A: I'm so excited for the return of the 70's this SS. Who isn't? On an everyday basis I'll go for jeans (mostly ripped) and tshirt, with Converse or cute boots/flats. The day that leaves the fashion scale I'll cry.
Q: Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
A: Sometimes I'll throw and outfit together, look in the morrow and think it looks awful. My Mum will try to convince me otherwise and say "of course you can wear those things together," but it never changes my mind. If you don't feel comfortable wearing something, don't wear it. Also, don't wear something because you feel forced to: it's all about your own decisions!
Q: Which would you be best at? Worst at? (Stylist, Designer, Photographer, Buyer)
A: I would love love love to be a stylist. I'm not one for drawing or being overly creative with new patterns or colour schemes, so designing probably wouldn't be my area. I guess I'd be okay at photography too, and buying... Well that comes pretty naturally!
Q: What is your dream job?
A: To be a stylist, fashion journalist or fashion photographer. Maybe even a coordinator for fashion events - that would be amazing.
Q: What are your other interests? How do you spend your spare time?
A: Ive danced nearly my whole life, it's something that keeps me going and allows me to socialise with people each week (off of the Internet). I also do my own photography as a little hobby, it's fun and gives me the opportunity to learn new skills.
