Hello there! My name is Lucy and I am a recent graduate of Leeds College of Art, where I studied Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design.
I grew up in the North East of England, and now reside in the historic mining town of Ashington, Northumberland. True to it's reputation, the North East is a friendly, wholesome place with alot of amazing creative talent under the radar.
I believe there is style inspiration all around us. I take inspiration from an eclectic mix of high street and haute couture, as well as the increasingly popular emergence of street style and vintage. I love trend prediction and seeing how different looks are put together, mixed up and reworked.
I would describe my personal style in 3 words as quirky, colourful and pattern-crazy (maybe that should be 4?...). I love print and pattern, and think you can't go wrong with a classic stripe or polka dot.
I am an avid worshipper of the high street, and love a good browse (or in my case, lengthy expedition) around New Look, H & M, Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, Ark and Primark. Online-wise, Boohoo, Missguided and PrettyLittleThing are brilliant.
Vintage clothes are another great love of mine and can be found in my wardrobe. I love trawling through thrift shops and finding hidden gems. There is always something special and unique about that printed silk scarf you come across, or that quirky statement necklace that would complete an outfit you have at home.
I love combining high street with thrift shop and it is that diversity that makes fashion so exciting to be around!
Cliche as it sounds, I have always had an interest in fashion from growing up. It is something that has stayed with me throughout adolescence and has led me to develop my own personal style.
As far as style icons go, no one can match the timeless mignon grace of Audrey Hepburn. Classy, effortless and chic.
In today's era, I love the laid-back bohemian style of Sienna Miller, and the effortless grunge-inspired street style of fashion blogger Luanna Perez Garreaud. Blogs and social media are a great platform for showcasing fashion inspo.
Senso's footwear range is to die for - sleek, on trend and super wearable. And if you're a fan of print and pattern clash, look no further than Emily Millichip, Edinburgh based fashion designer.
In terms of trends, I am loving the oversized retro-inspired florals for SS 15 womenswear, and contrastingly, the monochrome/metallic trend with grid, check and stripe print.
I love all areas of fashion. From designing prints to sourcing trends and products, there is always something different to be found and something new to learn. As Yves Saint Laurent once said, 'fashions fade, style is eternal.'
