Q: Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
A: Born in Turkey, spent my younger years in Greece, moved to the states when i was seven.
Q: What have you studied, and what are you doing now?
A: I'm currently all over the place as a student, just haven't figured out that one thing i'm passionate about to pursue. Currently a greek school teacher on the side, and a server at sushi restaurant to pay for my love of shopping and traveling.
Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: i like simplicity, classy and chic with pops of color or print. Might sound cliche, but anything that stands out.
Q: Where do you shop? Luxury or high street? New or vintage? Boutiques? Online?
A: I really don't think it matters where you get your clothes, i think it's the person that makes the outfit. I love thrifting to high end, how you wear it is what matters. Labels don't always mean much when it comes to styling.
Q: If you had $300 for a shopping spree, how many items would you buy?
A: hmm i would buy things i absolutely adored and couldn't live without. Things i don't currently have in my wardrobe. Hopefully with that $300 would get me a few beautiful and unique pieces.
Q: Do you prefer street style fashion or runway fashion?
A: I adore both, so much creativity in different ways.
Q: What do you splurge on? Skimp on?
A: I really love jackets and scarves, i have too many but i just can't stop.
Q: When and how did you become interested in fashion, and where do you find your inspiration?
A: Ever since i was seven i told myself i wanted to be a fashion designer. Now looking back, i loved how driven i was to become that, but after getting in a fight with my sewing machine at 13, i thought maybe that wasn't for me. I never thought i'd ever want to pursue anything with fashion,I just thought because I'm a girl, it's typical of me to love fashion and clothes. But now I realizes it's something i hope i can pursue. The fashion world excites me, every aspect of it.
My inspiration? everywhere, whether i'm walking on campus looking at other fashionistas on the streets to being on instagram or tumblr. I think if you're actually looking at whats around you rather than seeing, you'll see something beautiful everywhere you go.
Q: Who are your favorite style icon(s)?
A: Blake Lively, Victoria Beckham, Kendall Jenner, Olivia Palermo.
The list of women who inspire my closet is on going, it's just my bank account can't afford it.
Q: What are your favorite fashion blogs? Magazines?
A: Vogue, Bazaar, Elle
Teni Panosian - http://missmaven.com
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: The expression, how everyone has their own eye and can express who they are and how they feel with just by what they're wearing.
Hmm..what is there not to love? Maybe that moment when you see a beautiful piece of clothing from across the room, and you tell yourself you have to have it, until you look at the price tag and your heart just sinks. Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford and be able to splurge on the things i want.
Q: Your favorite designers & brands?
A: how does one decide? Gucci, YSL, Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani. So many unique and beautiful designers/ brands to adore.
Q: Do you follow fashion trends? Which ones?
A: I follow many, but my favorite to see and wear are wide leg pants, blazers, leather jackets. Simple and chic pieces that are conservative, but is sexy at the same time. For me i feel that less isn't always more.
Q: Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
A: You never know who you're going to run into, wear something that represents you and you feel confident in.
Q: Which would you be best at? Worst at? (Stylist, Designer, Photographer, Buyer)
A: My friends always come to me for fashion advice, so styling is something I've come to love. They seem to ask me what's in season, if their lipstick goes with their outfit, what shoes to wear, how to accessorize. Basically to help them make sure they look put together and It makes me so happy to know that they trust my opinion.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: I don't know what job specifically but to be working at a fashion magazine (Elle or Vogue) would be the greatest thing in the world . Just to be apart of that culture, a group of people coming together to create something that inspires and makes other people who love fashion enjoy what they're reading and looking at. Even if i was just an assistant, the opportunity and experience would be unreal and completely satisfying.
Or to be an assistant working backstage at fashion events. The people behind the scenes have an amazing job as well, they get to be apart of the finished product.
Q: What are your other interests? How do you spend your spare time?
A: I love blogging, tumblr, shopping. I love to travel, take pictures, explore. Cooking and being around food is a must, growing up with a Greek mother, my passion and love for food has no limit. With having a greek background, I have a really big heart, I enjoy being around children. I currently teach greek to little kids ranging from 4-7. I also love to volunteer and help out those who need it. I just feel so blessed myself that I need to give back to others.
