Q: Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
A: I was born in sunny Scarborough, a small seaside town in England. I've recently moved from London to the quiet Lincolnshire countryside - its a big change!
Q: What have you studied, and what are you doing now?
A: I graduated in 2011 with a first class honours degree in Fashion Promotion. Since then I've done a little freelance design work, and recently left working at Topman's flagship store on Oxford Street where I was a product specialist. I'm just doing a bit of freelancing at the moment which is ideal due to relocating to the middle of nowhere!
Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: Girly, mood reflecting, neutral tones, British.
Q: Where do you shop? Luxury or high street? New or vintage? Boutiques? Online?
A: I don't actually think I own any luxury products due to the fact I'm always skint! So its always high-street or charity shop trawling for me. Favourite high street haunts are Topshop & H&M for clothes, Office for shoes, and charity shops for great bargains - chunky knits in particular, my latest steal was a great reversible camel cape for a fiver! In terms of accessories I'm pretty basic, I've taken to rooting through my mums vintage jewelry collection for silver pendants and charm bracelets, although I do love London markets for affordable trinkets - I'd usually head to Camden or Portobello.
Q: If you had $300 for a shopping spree, how many items would you buy?
A: It really depends on the season, if it were Summer I'd probably just head to H&M and get a tonne of cute little sun dresses. But for Winter I'd invest in a couple pairs of statement boots to dress up a casual winter look, so I'd probably head to Office or Kurt Geiger.
Q: Do you prefer street style fashion or runway fashion?
A:Oh most definitely street style 100% It's where I get most of my style inspiration from. It was great working on Oxford Street as I'd see so many hundreds of people and different styles everyday, I particularly liked to see different ways people would style certain trends and make it wearable.
Q: What do you splurge on? Skimp on?
A:Again, I'm a massive bargain hunter these days, but if I am ever to treat myself it will always be on leather goods - either bags or boots.
Q: When and how did you become interested in fashion, and where do you find your inspiration?
A: I first discovered fashion as a child. I had a dressing up bag filled with my nanas old designer clothes. I could spend hours dressing myself up and pairing together different looks, I think my interest in fashion probably started there! I then began studying the subject academically from around the age of 19.
I must admit although I love fashion I'd probably say I'm not too overly adventurous with it in terms of my own personal style. I can appreciate everything that comes from the catwalks at fashion weeks but I prefer to seek inspiration that I can translate into wearable and comfortable looks that suit me. So I'd probably say a lot of my inspiration comes from general people watching and fashion blogs based on street style, such as - what-id-wear and the ASOS 'looks and outfits' section.
Q: Who are your favorite style icon(s)?
A: Nicole Richie, Victoria Beckham and the Olsens.
Q: What are your favorite fashion blogs? Magazines?
A: Vogue, InStyle, Company and Grazia for magazines, what-id-wear, lydia Elise Millen, WGSN & ASOS for blogs.
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: For me personally I love how fashion can enable me to dress to reflect my mood at the time e.g if I dress really smart and tailored it makes me feel empowered and off I go strutting down the street, the same as I can dress in a long billowing chiffon maxi dress and feel romantic and care-free. I also love how dressing well can improve your confidence. If I know I'm in a killer outfit and I feel stylish yet comfortable my confidence is doubled.
What I don't love is when fashion is taken too seriously.
Q: Do you follow fashion trends? Which ones?
A: Trends are changing all the time, but in general I would say my wardrobe will always contain a few bohemian/70's pieces, some tailored trousers & dresses, a bit of grunge, and tonnes of prints.
Q: Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
A: My number one fashion rule is be aware of your own body shape and tailor your wardrobe choices around this fact. Fashion should be there to enhance and flatter - not the opposite.
