Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: Waist accentuating meets husbands wardrobe
Q: Where do you shop? Luxury or high street? New or vintage? Boutiques? Online?
A: I like to treat my clothing like children, love and nurture them and then they turn 18 and I let them go off and be with someone else all the while I’ve saved up to go to my favourite de Bijenkorf Amsterdam for serious bargain hunting on luxury items.
Q: If you had $300 for a shopping spree, how many items would you buy?
A: I would buy one beautiful investment piece.
Q: Do you prefer street style fashion or runway fashion?
A: Runway fashion is divine it’s the modern day version of Versailles French court. I personally love both & believe they can offer different types of inspiration. For instance Runway is the look you go to for extravagance for an event its all about the drama of the look as a whole, and what better place than a party to play up dark eye makeup, strangely beautiful hairstyles and a costume such as dominatrix on an acid trip or Alice in Wonderland meets gothic revival. Street Style is a more natural type of look in the most magnificent of ways, it is is daytime cool. It is white washed linen with bare, tanned skin & bronzer. Oversized totes, ballet flats & cashmere. I believe one is your inner child dressing up and the other is your adult self dressing up. I know everyone is different it's just what my brain conjures up when I think of each one.
Q: What do you splurge on? Skimp on?
A: Splurge on long lasting staple items such as Handbags (I will never regret my Longchamp handbag), Tailored pants, Trench coats and Ballet flats. Skimp on Tee’s, Bodysuits and Pullovers because they will be in higher rotation.
Q: When and how did you become interested in fashion, and where do you find your inspiration?
A: Since I could dress myself. I was all about stockings paired with dresses, chunky knits, straw hats, sparkly ballet flats and pink suitcases. I get a lot of inspiration from Tumblr and bands like The Acid. Also reading a lot of novels has made me very sure of what I like and don't like because my brain conjures up the outfit perfectly in my mind and that tells me I am drawn to a certain type of look.
Q: Who are your favorite style icon(s)?
A: Edie Sedgwick.
Q: What are your favorite fashion blogs? Magazines?
A: Harpers Bazaar, Dazed & Confused, Oyster, A Haute Pursuit.
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: Fashion has no rules and no boundaries it is the ultimate expression of who you want to be that day.
Q: Your favorite designers & brands?
A: Agent Provocateur, Witchery, Calvin Klein & Zara seem to have weaved their way into my everyday.
Q: Do you follow fashion trends? Which ones?
A: Anything accentuating the waist, so a lot of tight, high waisted bottoms with an oversized tee or shirt tucked in & (cringe, I know) I wear a lot of tights basically because I love the 60's and it's the one thing that has survived through the ages as a staple wardrobe item. It's the Edie uniform.
Q: Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
A: Comfort before anything. I don’t care how incredible an outfit is if you are not comfortable in your own skin wearing it the whole thing will look horrible and off. Confidence is key. I’ve seen women wearing what could be a really dull and lifeless outfit look like superstars because they made a decision to confidently be comfortable.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Interior Designer, Architect, Fashion Blogger, Director and Writer of weird, obscure indie films & music videos (dream big or go home right)
Q: What are your other interests? How do you spend your spare time?
A: Reading, films, interior design, architecture, fashion, music & Japanese culture.
